Trade and Competition

It involves scientific analysis of trading patterns, prices and business practices to identify issues that have implications for consumer welfare. In particular, the emphasis is placed on fair trade, and the policies related to trade that undermine consumer interests are identified for the purpose of advocacy. Attention is also paid to determine when and whether potentially collusive, monopolistic or anti-competitive practices take place, and how the same could be addressed.

CWP works with the corporate sector to advocate and promote compliance with various ethical and social standards. CWP emphasizes that organizations, both large and small, should subscribe to the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility.

Punjab Consumer Protection Council asks District Administration to Ensure Display of Price Lists at Shops and Display Centres

The Punjab Consumer Protection council has asked administration of all districts of the Punjab to ensure the display of price lists at business places in their districts. The council has written letter to all DCOs in the Punjab requesting to ensure display of price lists at stores and display centre. The letter was written in response to the Consumer Watch Pakistan (CWP) market survey conducted in different districts of the Punjab.
